NaNo 2010

That’s right, guys and dolls, it’s that NaNo time of year again.

This year, as I have basically no idea what I want to write about, I’m going to faff about with the setting of Broken Wings and see if a prequel or sequel accidentally happens out of it. It looks like I might get something towards my sequel, Scattered Feathers, which I made an attempt at the year before last, but did not get very many ideas to work with. If this year is the same, I might be able to combine all the ideas from both years and discover something workable.

I’ll be tweeting about my progress again this year (theGhostWolfe); but I also set up a second account where I’ll be talking solely about the writing process. That includes NaNo updates, but also comments and fleeting thoughts about what I’m writing. You can check me out at Angell_writing.

See my progress table for this year after the jump (hey, I learned how to do tables, so it’s all formatted and shit, not like last year!) —

Okay, so all those heading make sense, right? I suppose graphs might make more sense… maybe I’ll make one later. Anyway, these are the stats I track: the first two stats are the minimum requirements to finish NaNo by the end of December. My personal goal is a self-set goal for how many words I want to write in a day – a figure I set at the start of the day, based on how much writing I want to get done, adjusted by how much I think I can get done. The next three stats are the “real numbers”: what I actually wrote, my running total of words for the month, and how many words are left. The final stat is the remaining words divided by the remaining days – the minimum number of words I would need to put down for the remainder of November in order to finish on time.

It occurs to me that my explanations might not make much more sense than my table.
